Michigan´s Smokefree Law (P.A. 188)

On May 1, 2010, Michigan residents and visitors became protected from exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke in restaurants, bars and businesses (including hotels and motels), thanks to the Dr. Ron Davis Smoke-free Air Law.

Exemptions to this law include gaming floors of the 3 Detroit casinos, existing cigar bars and tobacco specialty shops.

To print a copy of the law and get answers to frequently asked questions, please refer to www.mich.gov/smokefreelaw. Starting May 1, you can also come here for information on how to report a violation of the law.

The Campaign for Smokefree Air has also compiled a FAQ sheet.
