Restrictions on Tobacco Vending Machines

VENDING MACHINE LAW

Vending machines which dispense tobacco products are prohibited everywhere in Michigan except:

1. Establishments with a Class C liquor license.

If this establishment has a bar that is in a separate room, the vending machine must be located entirely in that room. If the establishment has a bar not located in a separate room, the vending machine must be located not more than 20 feet from the bar. It must be clearly within the bar area, not in a hallway, coatroom, restroom, or similar unrelated area. The vending machine must be under direct visual supervision of an adult.

2. Offices, plants, factories, or private membership clubs that are not open to the public.

The vending machine must be located not less than 20 feet from all entrances and exits.
